Local
Attractions
|
Letterkenny is Donegal's largest town
and also has one of the longest main streets in Ireland. St Eunan's
Cathedral in the town has some fine Celtic-style stonework and vivid
stained glass and the County Museum has informative displays on
local history and archeology. Overlooking Lough Swilly, GrianĂ¡n of
Ailigh has stood proud since the 5th century BC. The circular stone
structure is a fascinating example of pagan building and affords
stunning panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. A short
drive from the hotel is the wild but beautiful Glenveagh National
Park. Covering 25,000 acres the park has stunning mountain scenery,
dramatic valleys and cliffs. Within the park, Glenveagh Castle
stands on the shore of Lake Veagh and visitors can have a guided
tour of the castle and stroll through the formal gardens and wooded
trails.
